Gary Sinise and the Lt Dan Band at Fort Irwin

The High Desert was filled with the sounds of cheers and music on May 14th as Gary Sinise and the Lt Dan band performed for over 1,500 excited Fort Irwin residents. The Lt Dan Band stopped by while on their Spring USO tour sponsored by TriWest. This was the second year Ft Irwin hosted the star and his band.

Festivities kicked off at 1730 when the gates opened to the Ft Irwin community. Parents were pleased to see several bounce houses, face painting, and cotton candy for their youngsters. Adults were treated to Coldhouse Vodka samples and plenty of tasty treats from several food vendors. Monster was also there with samples for the crowd.

At 1900, Gary Sinise and the Lt Dan Band took the stage to play a two hour set. They covered popular songs spanning several generations that everyone loved, including Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Gary Sinise delighted the crowd by bringing up fans to the stage several times during the concert. The concert ended with a great rendition of “Aint No Mountain High Enough” originally sung by Marvin Gaye.

Gary Sinise and the Lt Dan Band’s next stop is Ft Rucker, Alabama in July. This is their seventh year touring for the USO. Gary Sinise was awarded the 2008 Presidential Citizens Medal for his long time support of the U.S. military. We hope to see Gary and the band back next year!

What a great time. Little windy, but glad the hubby and I got out of the house. Normally we stay at home on the weekends relaxing, but we really enjoyed ourselves – getting to see the live music and everyone having fun in the crowd. My husband saw a bunch of his friends from other troops and regiment that he hadn’t hung out with in awhile.

Hope to see more live music from big names out here at Ft Irwin!
Thanks to everyone who made this possible :)
